Kingfisher opened on Hobart's Elizabeth Street Pier in September 2026 with 10 semi-private dart lounges, each fitted with an Ultradarts auto-scoring system from Good Times Tech. It is the first venue of its kind in Tasmania.

Leo Miller wanted a waterfront venue that gave people a reason to come, stay and come back. Darts became an important part of it.
Miller already knew the pier. He ran Billy's Burgers and Bar there until closing it on 3 May 2026 to focus on Kingfisher. The new venue takes over the former T42 and Asian Gourmet On The Pier spaces. Both were gutted and rebuilt as part of landlord Silverleaf's $40 million redevelopment of the Victoria Dock precinct.
The pier is changing fast around it. Citadines Elizabeth Street Pier hotel has opened, with Pier Tasmania, Gelato Messina and Shadow on the way. Miller also points to Hobart's planned stadium as a reason for confidence: "I think Hobart's a great place to work and do things like that."
Kingfisher fitted all 10 lounges with Ultradarts from Good Times Tech and managed the install themselves. Darts became a bookable experience that sits alongside tables, booths and two alfresco areas, rather than a board on a wall.
Each lounge runs the complete Ultradarts core system:
Ultradarts is modular, so the technology fits into the venue's own fitout. Kingfisher built custom cabinetry for every lane, so the darts sit naturally among the bar's dark timber, leather and hanging garden. Each lounge also carries its own name:
The Back Room: The most private space, after a Prohibition-era New York speakeasy
The Conservatory: Beside the hanging garden that runs through the venue
Prohibition 1, 2 and 3: Three rooms named for the speakeasy era
The Bowery 1 and 2: Back-to-back lounges named for the New York street
Bones & Honey: Two adjoining lounges, a nod to the club in Ted Lasso
The Gallery: Under an oil painting of an Azure Kingfisher by Tasmanian artist Averill Lawler

Anyone can pick up a dart and win, which is the point. Miller explains it simply:
"All the games are made to sort of even it out, so it's not just the best darts players winning."
Scoring is automatic, so nobody holds a chalk or does maths between throws. Each lounge takes up to 8 players, or 16 playing in pairs, which suits birthdays, work drinks and functions.
The six Ultradarts games range from classic to party formats:
